[:en]In the City of Omaha there is a building that makes us remember the large minimalist spaces of the best cities in the country. It is like entering a New York loft, with open spaces and the warmth needed to host a big party for family and friends or an event or meeting that will certainly be an unforgettable moment.
It is the Omaha Design Center, a place for social events which has opened its doors to show us what’s inside.
It is located in one of the most trending areas in historic downtown, on 1502 Cuming St.
For many years it was known as the Tip Top Ballroom, but its story changed when the Omaha Fashion Week board noticed its potential as a great location for all type of social events.
Natalie Wallace, Marketing Director for the location, mentioned that Omaha Fashion Week used to have to rent tents and many other things to be able to hold the highly anticipated fashion show in the city. “We spent a lot in heating during March, so it was decided that instead of continuing to spend that money it should be invested into remodeling the Tip Top Ballroom to turn it into the Omaha Design Center.”
The result is astonishing. Very chic concrete floors, massive white walls and a considerable amount of curtains draped in French fabric, with crystal chandeliers that give it a sense of warmth and elegance. It is a location with no walls to separate the area, opting for an open space.
“We can have events for 2,000 people [standing room], 1,500 [theatre style] or more intimate events for 600-700 people or even for only 100 people,” explained Natalie. “We are thrilled because we have several days booked for quinceañeras which will be a new type of experience.”
Natalie’s kind smile, along with her professionalism and experience, make it possible for Omaha to have a prestigious location such as this one which has opened its doors so that those who celebrate a special event in it can enter a dream-like area for their special day.
“What I like the most and what is easy for me to do is help people in their event based on the idea they have in mind. It’s hard for me to think of anything that would be considered difficult to do because I really love what I do,” says Natalie, who said she is happily surprised about how much demand they’re having.

Por muchos años fue conocido como el Tip Top Ballroom. Pero su historia cambia cuando la directiva del Omaha Fashion Week visualizaron su potencial, proyectando como un lugar muy contemporáneo para todo tipo de eventos.
Natalie Wallace, Directora de Mercadeo del lugar, comentó que el Omaha Fashion Week tenia que rentar carpas y un sin fin de cosas más, para poder realizar el evento de moda más esperado de la ciudad. “Incluso se gastaba mucho en calefacción durante el mes de marzo, así que se decidió que en lugar de seguir gastando, se invertiría en para remodelar el Tip Top Ballroom, para convertirlo en el Omaha Design Center”.
El resultado final es asombroso. Pisos de concreto muy “chic”, con paredes blancas y una enorme cantidad de cortinas drapeadas en termal francés, con candelabros de cristal que aportan calidez y elegancia. Un lugar que evita las paredes divisorias, para optar por un espacio abierto.
“Podemos tener eventos de 2000 personas [paradas], 1500 [theatre style] o cosas más intimas desde 600-700 personas o incluso 100 gentes”, explicó Natalie, quién agrego: “Estamos muy emocionados por que ya tenemos fechas apartadas para fiestas de quinceañeras y eso nos dará nuevas experiencias”.
La sonrisa amable de Natalie, junto a su profesionalismo y experiencia en la organización de eventos, permiten que Omaha goce de lugares de prestigio que abren sus puertas para lograr que los festejados entren a un sueños increíble al pisar este lugar el día de su fiesta.
“Lo que más me gusta y lo que más se me facilita es ayudar a las personas para realizar su evento, de acuerdo con la idea que tengan en mente. Pensar en algo difícil en este trabajo es complicado para mi por que de verdad me gusta mucho lo que hago, lo amo…”, dijo Natalie, quien expreso también la sorpresa que les genera la rápida demanda que están teniendo.
