Miss Nebraska Latina argues that it is aware of this and that they tackle it during the many workshops they impart.
There are people who love these events, and there are certainly those who hate it, and maybe, in the end, they’re both right. But what is certain is that the women who come to Omaha to participate in Miss Nebraska Latina take part in all of these activities are exposed to a series of circumstances, people, and decisions that can make this a very rewarding experience or their worst nightmare.
There are some issues in society of people who treat women as objects, but blaming beauty pageants or trying to make them disappear is a bit extreme.

Winning also means a commitment to important social work in the State to help out and support minorities. They win, along with the scepter and crown, beauty products, a lifetime membership to Planet Fitness, as well as being featured in all media in the region. Being considered for a year as the most beautiful Latina woman in a State with a population of over 2 million must have its benefits.
There are definitely many ways to review this topic, especially now with the arrival of Miss Nebraska Latina, questioning if there is any discrimination or exclusion of the legions of young women who are not considered to be pretty enough.
What is clear is that the people working on Miss Nebraska Latina are committed to not making it an event that presents a group of girls wearing disguises. “Uno no puede prohibir la belleza, pero si podemos plantear estándares de belleza, donde todos tengamos iguales oportunidades, generando una conciencia clara de lo mucho que se aprende en un evento como Miss Nebraska Latina”, dijo Rodriguez.
También enfatizo: “Hoy en día las mujeres vamos cambiando la forma de vernos a nosotros mismas a través de los concursos de belleza. Basta señalar que el simple hecho de presentarse en un escenario y hablar adecuadamente es símbolo de seguridad, preparación y empoderamiento”.
Al final, lo mejor y lo peor de ser una reina de belleza seguirá en discusión. Lo que es un hecho es la responsabilidad que como ganadora se asume, para representar a Nebraska en un concurso de belleza internacional y de conocer por cerca de dos semanas a jóvenes similares de toda latinoamerica.
Se asume también el deber de vincularse a obras sociales de importancia en el estado para darles su mano y su ayuda a las minorías más desprotegidas.
Ganan, además del cetro y la corona, productos de belleza, membresía vitalicia en Planet Fitness, figurar en cuanto medio de comunicación grande o pequeño tiene la región.
En fin, ser considerada durante un año la mujer Latina más bonita de un estado de casi 2 millones de habitantes debe tener su lado positivo.
Definitivamente hay una amplia mirada sobre el tema que hoy sigue vigente con la llegada de Miss Nebraska Latina, cuestionando si hay alguna tipo de discriminación y exclusión a largas legiones de jovencitas que no corresponden al canon de belleza requerido.
Lo que si que da claro es el compromiso de la directiva de Miss Nebraska Latina de no permitir que este sea un evento que presente un grupo de chicas disfrazadas. Esta conscientes que muchas mujeres, en el afán de lograr la belleza, sacrifican la salud, tienen trastornos alimenticios, en torno al culto de la imagen, y todo esto nada tiene que ver con la autoestima y esto es lo que inspira a Miss Nebraska Latina a ser mejores.
